Lefkada Town is the island’s capital, featuring a mix of traditional charm and modern conveniences. The colorful Venetian-style buildings and pedestrian streets create a lively atmosphere. The main square and marina are bustling with cafés, restaurants, and shops. The town is known for its cultural events, including music festivals and local celebrations. The wooden bridge at the waterfront is a popular spot for sunset photos. Visitors can explore museums, churches, and historical landmarks like the Castle of Agia Mavra, just before entering the island. The town is also a gateway to exploring the rest of the island, with easy access to beaches and nearby villages. In the evening, it transforms into a vibrant nightlife hub with bars and live music. The local market offers handmade crafts, local honey, and Lefkadian wines and salami (not from the same manufacturers). It's an excellent base for those wanting both relaxation and activity.
