Cape Ducato Lighthouse

Cape Ducato Lighthouse, also known as Lefkatas Lighthouse, is located at the southernmost tip of Lefkada. It is about an hour's drive from the Greek Beach House (about 40km). It stands on dramatic white cliffs that drop steeply into the deep blue Ionian Sea.

The site is linked to ancient mythology, as it is believed to be where the poet Sappho leapt to her death.

The lighthouse dates back to the 19th century and is still operational today.

The journey to Cape Ducato involves a rough, unpaved road, but the breathtaking views make it worthwhile. It is one of the best spots on the island for watching the sunset, with an endless horizon stretching before you. The area is rugged and wild, with strong winds and no tourist facilities, so visitors should come prepared.

The combination of history, myth, and natural beauty makes it a must-visit for adventurous travelers. The cliffs are also popular with photographers seeking dramatic landscapes.

It is advised to head to the cape with a full tank of gas because the southern side of Lefkada Island does not have many gas stations.
